Just want to reinforce that the damage in that photo is man-made. The building was intact after the quake... but not safe due to big cracks in the wrong places. There was genuine concern that a strong aftershock could cause a collapse, but that never eventuated. BTW we haven't had a big aftershock for quite a while. I've felt two very small ones at work this week but they'd have only been around magnitude 3. We're still waiting for the damage to our house to be assessed before we can make repairs.
