Thanks everyone for your input!

It is so easy to get completely lost looking for the best solution
when you don't know what needs to focus on. My main requirement is -
now that I've thought about it some more - for my web presence to eat
as little of my time as possible (and of course the agency's time
which translates into my money).

For remote access there won't be a shop as it always involves some
level of consultancy and admin training or installation.
- BTW let me know if anyone's interested; there are local partners all
over the globe and I get a nice referral kickback even if you choose
not to go directly through me -

For the IT shop I'm thinking perhaps I can find a hardware distributor
who sells the products I need and lets me link into a customized
instance of their shop. Even if it meant less margin it would probably
be the better idea seeing that I will only selling a very small
selection of IT hardware and I don't expect it to get huge because I
will run it only as a supplement source of income targeting those
who'll pay more to feel good about their choice or to be able to kick
my shin when something doesn't work.

For the photo gear, I'll need a small, single item focus shop system
though, perhaps a little cross selling for related items but not
really much. One that keeps popping up is Magento - can anyone
comment on that?

Cheers
Ecke
