The FA645 120/4 is one of the sharpest Pentax lenses ever made. It's truly
stunning; perhaps the only lens I've seen that's razor sharp at all apertures.
The only negative point with this lens is a somewhat harsh bokeh. It
doesn't really show up in macro situations but can be more annoying when
focusing on farther distances. This is a common phenomenon on many Macro
lenses.
It does indeed go to 1:1 but remember that 1:1 in MF forms indeed a smaller
part of the film area than for 35mm.

This lens works indeed great on 35mm bodies. I've once did a shootout with
the 120 Macro and the A* 135/1.8. I posted the result on this forum.
Unfortunately, I cannot longer remember the exact outcome but I believe
that the 120 Macro was slightly sharper.
Only stop-down metering though....
