Still, I can't help thinking about the "transition" from vinyl LPs to CDs. Sure seemed like a whole bunch of consumer electronics manufacturers got together and said, "Let's put this thing out there with an inferior sampling rate, and make everybody repurchase their entire music collections." Of course, vinyl (and the equipment to play it) still can be purchsed -- dearly -- from small, specialty, purist manufacturers. Flame-suited, ducking and running...
