Again a reply that may not be of help. I was convinced my K10D was
BFing. Two trips to Pentax Canada said it was not. I sent it back for
a third visit, this time with the D FA 50 f2,8. I was having trouble
with it and the 16-45.
I recieved the camera and lens back 2 weeks later with a note saying
they "matched" camera to lens. N/C it may have still been under a
warranty but i cannot remember.

I am not 100% sure but was there not a thread about the istD cameras
going back to the original firmware and you could hack into the
adjusting process.??or was that just the K10D.??

You asked me/us earlier if you should turn the beep back on.

Up to you but i found it very helpful, especially when i did horse
shows. I found after 4-5 hours my right eye would get "lazy" so to
speak and i would have to keep blinking and moving around to get rid
of floaties that made it hard for me to confirm focus. As long as the
beep beeped i was 99% sure i was ok.
