No, the two concepts are not linked. Your DS does have "Green button" you just don't know it! Probably because it's neither green nor a button. It's the on-off switch; it has a third position marked by an aperture style symbol. If I recall correctly that's how you use older lenses on a DS. It stops the aperture down (hence stop-down) to do the metering and sets the shutter speed accordingly - again if I remember correctly. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The advantage?
