Dave, you can run Migration Assistant later on if you like. It's in
/Applications/Utilities .
PS CS1 should run on your newer Intel Mac OS X, but it will run under
emulation (called Rosetta) so it's a bit sluggish. OTOH, your new Mac
will fly compared to your older iBook so the net result should be faster PS.
If you have Mac OS X 10.6 (aka Snow Leopard) installed, you may have to
install Rosetta as its an optional component during installation of the
OS. It will be found on the OS DVD.

-should the iBook be plugged in prior to the iMac start up or does it matter.
-Is this a one time thing, or can i do it anytime.
-Any idea if PSCS will work on the newest Mac OS's.

The iMac will ask you on startup if you want to do a migration. You can use the
firewire or a wireless network, but the firewire is highly recommended.

Happy New Year all.
Looks like my iMac will be ordered in a day or so with projected
delivery on the week of the 7th.
I have been told by a friend of mine, who has a graphics business and
uses Mac, as well as 1-2 lister, that i will be able to hook up my
iBook to the new iMac and transfer files and programs over.
My friend tells me to hook up at start up of the iMac but what I see
on the Apple site it does not suggest that.
I know i need a firewire adaptor from 400 to 800 but what are the
thoughts on migration. I don't want to screw this up.
Hopefully programs like PSCS1 and Toast 6 will run on the new OS.
