I have no doubt that the 645D will, for what it does well, outperform just about any camera under $20,000. However, it is in many respects a Rev 1.0 product. In that regards, I am also certain that the next version will be even better. I'm also certain, that as time goes on, the cost of the electronics will drop. Also, if the market expands the way that it seems like it will, economies of scale will come into play. Once production ramps up, and the waiting list goes down, supply and demand should also bring the price down. My guess is that it'll drop below $6,000 within three years, just in time for production of 645DA glass to ramp up.
