C'est moi! It was a great trip, too. You'll love it.

Already bought your book!
>so I am looking at what I need for a decent
kit for that trip. My immediate needs for that are:
1. A lightweight tripod. I have been eying a Manfrotto 732CY M-Y
Tripod with 484RC2 Head at the local camera store, and today my wife
announced that she would buy it for my birthday next week! Whee!
I traveled the Loire by bicycle, so I didn't take a tripod. If I were
going again I'd probably take my Gitzo Mountaineer 1228 and Manfrotto
ball head (I think it's the one you're looking at).
2. DA 12-24mm zoom. My digital kit has everything covered after a
fashion but the ultrawide end, so I need this. If I can't get it
before we go then I guess the MZ-S is coming along as my second body,
along with my 17mm Tamron.
The DA 12-24 is excellent for sharpness and distortion. I wish it had
weather sealing, an f/2.8 aperture and focused closer, but then it
would be double the price, wouldn't it? It's a bargain for what it
costs.
Not in Canada! I'll be ordering it from B&H.
