Hi Tom (I hope your teeth are all now right :),
   OTOH, as much as I would have liked a 1.4/50 which would be really
   sharp at 1.4, I still find it a good general purpose lens. A really
   sharp 1.4 at 1.4 would IMHO need compromises in performance at
   slower apertures. Now, the normal 1.4/50 is plenty fast when I need
   the speed, although not that much sharp, but is plenty sharp from
   2.8 on. That's a good compromise IMO.
