The thunder and lightening we're having is amazing--a 1st time experience
for me. I just tried to take some shots off the back landing, but it's hard
to lock on for focus and you're fighting elements constantly--so I didn't
really get anything. Also, it's hard to photograph; the snow looks like
glitter, not big snowflakes. I tried for some swirling snow, but when the
wind picks up it makes me unsteady and I lose control. When I use the
tripod, I can't manuver quickly when I spot snow swirles. I'd have to say
the elements are challenging.
I also got beaned pretty good by the snow in the cheeks--got a little bump
on my left cheek under my left eye. Snow accumulation by us not much of a
story yet, but the wind, thunder, and lightening clearly the story. We hear
wind and occassion gates thumping. 79 thousand people are already without
power in the Chicagoland area. Not good. Christine
