You should be able to get a free upgrade to the latest software for the Spyder I. Check the ColorVision web site. Of course, Version II hardware was an improvement and I would expect version III to be better still. But I'd try getting the latest software for your Spyder I first and seeing if that meets your needs. Fanatic perfectionists will get a megabuck high-end monitor, the expensive calibration/profiling equipment, re-profile every day and make their own custom printer/paper ICC profiles. Somewhere between that and a completely non-color-managed workflow will be a compromise that works best for you.
