Late to reply again but a great thread Larry.

In my case I generally find shots, generally they are things that
interest me graphically, socially or just as documentation (signs,
technical, family) but when I attend a job or location that I know may
provide certain photographic opportunities I kit up to suite and I
have a fair idea of what I might find and what I'd like to shoot.
