I wonder if that is 100% true - my laptop batteries seem to live a lot longer if I always work off the battery and in turn charge with the computer off (advice from Lenovo as well as Toshiba) Of course this is with regard to permanent simultaneous trickle charging and depletion so that may be something different altogether.
