Interesting. Apple makes only general recommendations on laptop battery use and
recharging, at least that I know of. I believe they advise to use the battery
at least part of the time, rather than always relying on the power cord. They
do say that the batteries will lose capacity after approximately 500 charge and
discharge cycles, a condition I experienced. My K-7 batteries seemed fine after
around 300 cycles. I'm now using one of the two from the k-7 in the k-5, along
with a new battery. Don't know which is which anymore, because I rotate them
from the grip to the camera each time I charge. I've never been able to get the
battery indicator down to even the halfway mark, although I've gone to about
1200 exposures before recharging a few times. I have the camera set to draw
equally from both batteries. If I have an important job coming up, I recharge
the batteries even if they're almost fully charged. I did the same thing with
the K-7, K20D and K10D. I have not observed any negative consequences, although
I did have one cheap third-party battery fail completely in the K10D.
