Ah well - that's where inside knowledge helps.

I worked at DEC for a while, including some time spent working on VMS
(to be precise, on VAX/VMS DEBUG).  Dave Cutler was working on VAX C
at the time, which meant we were part of the same organisational group.

Since those days I've also worked at Unix houses (such as SGI, for one).


Both HAL::IBM and VMS::WNT are, sadly, nothing more than coincidence.
