Hi!
I am thinking (as in: considering, contemplating) about getting myself a
standard SDM zoom lens. Presently the options are:
1. Pentax SMC DA* 16-50/2.8 (and some more letters)
2. Sigma EX DC 18-50/2.8 HSM (and some more letters)
3. Sigma EX DC OS 17-50/2.8 HSM (and yet more letters)
#2 is discontinued. I checked the local prices of #1 and #3 and #3 is
about 25% cheaper. The company that offers Sigma (similar to Karat
playing the role of Pentax Israel) seems to be pretty good. They also
offer 2 years warranty on the lens.
#1 has weather sealing, #2 and #3 seem unprotected.
Now, I wonder if anyone on the list is using Sigma HSM lenses with their
K-5/K-7 bodies in general and these two in particular. If so, I'd like
to hear your opinion.
I am leaning towards #3 but it is all extremely preliminary.
