opened in Aperture with the default conversion; i see no banding in the
sky, just a little normal-looking noise when i pixel peep
the symptoms you describe could be from using a TN monitor, or from
using a display system that's using "thousands" instead of "millions" of
colors; in some cases (e.g. certain Apple laptops) this won't be
reflected in the settings -- it claims millions but delivers less -- but
i think it should be explicit for external monitors -- what does
Displays prefpane say? (the refresh rate is generally irrelevant)
it could also be from using an analog input on a digital monitor -- how
is your monitor connected? what model of computer?
