If it's the Tamron Adaptall SP Macro Close Focus 70-210 f/3.5 with a 62mm 
filter ring, grab it. Introduced 1984, it's the only non f/2.8 zoom that 
may be sharper than the Pentax 70-210/4 PKA. It's an all-metal pro-quality 
lens. You can see and appreciate the difference in speed when you focus 
through a split-prism rangefinder patch. It has a unique hood that slides 
in an out to change length to match the focal length you've selected.

And how about that continuous magnification of 1:2.6X?

Tamron Adaptall adapter for this lens come in two kinds. The PK adapter 
will let you use f/32. The PKA adapter will give you all the benefits of a 
PKA mount but will limit your minimum aperture to f/22.

If its 860 g weight proves too heavy for you (the Pentax is 680 g), you can 
sell it to users of any bayonet mount.
