Not too many.  Use a shorter head (the 3047 is fairly tall - a medium
ballhead might net you an inch or two).  If you MUST go under, Bogen
sells two
heads that are tilt/swivel, but are designed in such a fashion that if
you
flip the centerpost, you can still shoot with the camera up right.  With
the
right amount of fiddling, you can get the head a fraction of an inch
above the
ground.  My wife and I use the 3028 head for this, which is larger than
the
one that has knobs rather than levers.  It actually works pretty well,
and it's not a terrible "regular" head, either.

Another thing that can help in this situation is to use a longer lens,
which will cut down on the angle to the subject.
