Sam, For each lens you have to make separate test(s). For 18-55mm and 55-300 mm lenses you can either make the tests for the focal length you use most (say, 28mm for the kit lens and 70mm for the tele); or choose a mid value for each zoom as if they were primes at that focal length. For the 40mm, you just test.
I am not sure whether you can make focus adjustments on Kx, though... If you just want to "see" if there is a problem with your camera's AF hardware, you may need another properly focusing Pentax DSLR around. Try the DA 40mm with both; if your camera does not focus correctly (but the other does), it may need to be fixed.
