The dimensions meter electronics and mechanical systems of the K-1000 and
the Spotmatic F
show them to be for the most part identical. I have a Spot F and yes the
release is
smother than on a K1000. However most of the differences are details from
finer finishing
rather than real design differences. (If someone points out the lens mount
I'll scream,
even the follower lever that communicates the relative aperture to the
meter works the
same way). The K-1000, is a stripped down KM which was the SPF with a
bayonet mount
all the cameras used the same frames almost identical electronics and I'd
bet that at least
80% of their parts were interchangeable.
