I disagree with the statement that the K1000 was the spotmatic in K-mount. The shutter release on the Spotmatic is much smoother, there is less mirror noise and slap, and the film advance is smoother. The K-1000 was designed as an entry level "student camera" which IMHO it excelled in. The only all manual student cameras now are the Ricoh, Phoenix, and the Nikon FM-10 (fm-2 &fm-3 too expensive for a student camera ) All of them are plastic junk. I heard a rumor that Pentax is going to resume K1000 production, has anyone else heard that?
