The plates are aimed at their respective heads, so in the Bogen system you have to decide which plate and shop your head(s) or which head and then shop your plate(s). I do not know if the rectangular "architectural" Bogen plate has a lip tall enough to block your film from being loaded. I've heard reports from some hex-plate folks that the lip on the hex architectural plate can interfere with film loading. Perhaps I read this on photo.net. As I understand it, these lipped plates are fairly new, perhaps offered only in the last year or so. But I'm gonna use them whether they block film changes or not. My K f2.5 135 and my Sigma 70-300 are both heavy enough to cause twist, and twist is a pain in the rear.... I almost said it "sucks", but we're no longer allowed the s**** word here.
