Hi Dave, The readings match. The dome gives you an 18% reading. That is the advantage of the incident meter it measures the light not the reflectance of the subject.
Or to put it another way the incident meter gives you a Zone V reading and you don't have to do anything to figure that out. Then if you subject is predominately dark you open up one or two stops moving it up 1 or 2 Zones. If it is predominantly light open up one stop moving it down a zone. Only in the most extreme subjects do you need reflective reading which you do by taking close up readings of the light and dark areas. Then you figure which way you want to bias your exposure. Remember the incident reading will always be for Zone V on the film. That is it centers the exposure on the sensimetic curve. 98% of the time that will be a printable exposure, the other 2% of them are pretty obvious because the range is so extreme.
