I learned long ago: never skimp on a strap, no matter what kind you prefer. Get the best you can find. Your expensive equipment is hanging on it. I like a neck strap with the GXR ... it's small and light enough that hanging onto my chest isn't obnoxious ... and the standard strap that came with it works fine but is kinda rough and irritating on my neck. I was about to go construct a nice leather strap when I discovered the Ricoh has an optional leather accessory neck strap. Probably a lot better quality than I can make myself, so what the heck? I ordered one.
