Illegal, not legal, immigration does create problems for themselves and others when employers hire them - skewing the playing field, loss of tax revenue and exploitation. (and, hard work is one thing, killing yourself out of desperation is quite another) As far as expatriating money, for example, the vast majority of Mexico's hard currency comes from PEMEX and expats (not in that order) - not all of them "illegals", very important to keep in mind.
