Yes, I know.  A couple of weekends ago I caught another one who let me
get a couple of quick shots before flying off.  It was a bright, sunny
day, and even with bracketing, the little guy had lots of blown-out
spots on his back.  I didn't pull back this time, but it was overcast
which made the difference, I suspect.
