From a cost vs benefit standpoint I'd be hard pressed to reccommend the
K5 unless you really need the few siginifcant advantages it has - high
ISO performance being the main one IMO.
The K20D is available relatively cheap and does a good- not great job.
Advantages of the K-5 over the K20: (off the top of my head)
High ISO noise
Dynamic range
size
Size not an issue for me with the K20D
usable auto focus
usable auto metering
I don't have an issue with the K20D's metering
Buffer size
No issue with the K20D's buffer size
frame rate
No issue with the K20D's frame rate
But, if you're shooting in relatively static conditions, with good light,
the K20d does a great job.
I've used the K20D to capture animals/birds traveling in the wild with no
issue noted.
I'm just saying that for the added outlay to upgrade to the K-5, for me its
simply not worth the cost. Would I like a K-5.... sure but I'll be dammned
if I'm gonna jump for every new camera Pentax puts out every year and a half
without some very good reasons as it affects my photography.
