I've been thinking a bit about this and realized that, for me, there is no "best" 35mm camera. When I'm out on the street or elsewhere I and want to shoot fast, quietly, and thoughtfully, the MX does it best. The small size and weight, lack of clutter from features and automation, makes it particularly appealing.
However, there are times when automated exposure, or the need for a different finder, or a motor drive or winder, is useful, and then the LX comes into its own special sphere. Falling between the two is the ME Super, a camera that feels "right" in many situations where I just want to point and shoot. Using it manually is less than an exhilarating and pleasurable experience, and it doesn't have the nice and sometimes useful features of the LX, but if I want light weight and am not in the mood to think about exposures, the ME S is a good choice. The fact that it allows the use of a winder and the remote winder cord is a nice plus. I am sure there are some other bodies that offer similar features to the ME S, perhaps with a program mode, so I'll include them along with the ME S - I think some are very similar and even use some of the same ME S accessories. More and more I find myself using the MX now that I've got a good one (Thanks Daphne!) It's a nice SLR compliment to the Leica - perhaps the most Leica-like camera Pentax ever made. -- Shel Belinkoff mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://home.earthlink.net/~belinkoff/ - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
