Very dramatic subject, well composed. I don't find the logs excessively dark although the top left of the X could benefit by just a bit more detail. If you have Photoshop or an image editing program that supports layers and masks, lightening the logs would be pretty easy. You'd just need to apply a levels adjustment layer and restrict the effect to the logs alone using a mask. Another possibility - does Lightroom have a shadows/highlights tool? Last resort - go back with a tripod and do several different exposures for later blending in software.
