Everyone's service sucks. HP used to have great service. I once sent
them a printer that failed, it was the power supply, they not only paid
for shipping both ways, (out of warranty), but sent me a new power
supply gratis. I took up a full day of one of their engineers time
trouble shooting why my mid range photo printer started printing images
that exhibited banding, (the tech I started with on the phone realized
he was simply out of his depth and passed me to a supervisor who passed
me to the engineer). That was only six years ago. Today you can barely
contact them and their agents are barely literate in English, though I
expect that the speak Urdu or Hindi quite well...

I have a P3000 viewer that I have used a fair amount when traveling.
Recently it lost its ability to download files from SD or CF cards. I can view
the images on the cards, and I can view images already on the hard drive, but
the download doesn't work.
Emailed Epson support; they told me to call an independent service center on
Long Island.
Called them; all they do is send the units on to Epson, and charge $289.
$289 to re-flash a chip somewhere? No way.
That is lousy, exploitative "service". I was attracted by the R3000 printer, but I'm now
thinking "Any brand but Epson!"

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
