Sad to say, those P3000 and other similar model viewers probably fall
into the "replace rather than repair" category now. I expect that
tablet devices will soon force them out of the marketplace altogether.
I thought the net-books already had, but tablet devices have got a long
way to go before they'll be usable as portable image storage devices.
$550 and only 32GB storage? Plus none of them takes a real SD card;
you'd have to replace all your SD cards with micro-SD cards.
I'm not impressed.
I use my Dell netbook for portable storage and it cost about the same
as the Epson P3000 originally did.
Several tablet devices now have full-size SD slots. When you run out
of internal storage there's always the external USB hard drive option.
Sorry, meant I am not impressed with the tablet devices. The bang for
the buck is just not there.
I've thought about getting a net-book for portable storage, but can't
really afford it.
If I'm going to spend any more money on computers, I need to spend it on
building a dedicated Photoshop machine. In the meantime, my current
laptop is only 4 years old and still adequate for my needs.
