First, thanks to all who continue to respond on this thread. Probably second 
nature to most of you, but my use of LR has been ramped up a notch by the 
explanations and suggestions I've received. My "workflow" is already 
significantly more efficient than it was, and no longer the deterrent to 
processing that it was.

One more question: I've created a couple of named collections, using the dating 
conventions you suggest Godfrey, which I was already using with my regular 
image files. I'm not finding an obvious way to add an image to an existing 
collection. 

My bet is there is one. If so, how do I do it?
