I had LR open so I did a quick metadata search.

Of the several tens of thousands of photos I made with Pentax cameras
and lenses, the FA31 accounts for less than 200. I found it rather a
heavy and awkward lens that didn't live up to its reputation or its
price when I received it in 2004. I sold it after only a short time
and replaced it with the FA35/2 AL, which produced over 10 times the
number of exposures in my library. To give you a measure by which to
judge how much these lenses resonated with me, the last Limited I
purchased was the FA43 in Feb 2007, which I used until I ultimately
sold off all my Pentax gear in late 2008 ... the FA43 did the right
thing for me, I made well over 25x the number of photos with it that I
made with the FA31 and twice as many as I made with the FA35, in a
shorter time.

Some lenses just do the job in a way that resonates. Some do not.

I'm finding this right now on another front: I bought a brace of five
new Voigtländer M-bayonet lenses recently. Four of the five click with
my vision and produce immediately compelling results. But I can't get
very friendly with the Ultron 28 ... it just doesn't click with me
although I've got some super quality photos with it, technically
speaking. I'll sell it soon.

If a lens works for you, enjoy. If not, sell and move on. Don't worry
about what equipment other people use ... :-)
