Interesting question. I'm going to try to avoid getting sucked in to analyzing how many photos I've taken with each lens, but looking at my recent photos, I see that I've taken about 1/12 of my photos with the 31 (about 8%). Looking at the 371 photos in my lightroom "best of" collection, 55 (or nearly 20%) are with the FA31. Partly because of it's better performance, and partly because for a long time, the 31 was only only lens that was good and fast, or good, or fast. I'd say that my 31 and my 16-50 are my "Camry Lenses". They are good, quality tools, that get the job done. The 31 on APS is the modern equivalent of the standard prime, and the 16-50 is a modern standard zoom (a kit lens, but done right). However, to me, they are appliances, they don't inspire me. When I realize that they are the right tool for the job, I don't get that little flutter of happiness that I do when I realize that it's time to mount my FA77, DA40 or A*200. Each of those lenses brings something *fun* to the table. My PFA 50/1.4 and my sigma 20/1.8 are often the right tool for the job, but they also make me apprehensive. When they work well, they do a great job, but they are often tough to get good photos with. Unfortunately, the times that I need the 50/1.4 are when I need f/1.4, and that is when it performs its worst. -- Larry Colen [email protected] sent from i4est -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
