I wonder if the skew in favour of longer glass reflects what the "average casual shooter" goes for? I'm guessing sports, wildlife, passive distance street shooting, portraits. I think that many people just don't know what to do with wide lenses. They force you to get close to action in all but landscape shooting and that makes many people uncomfortable. Just for grins I put my own Lr lens stats into a Google Docs spreadsheet and made a pretty pie-chart -- just 'cause I could. :-) (First time I've done that, ie whip up a speculative chart, and it's damned convenient.) http://goo.gl/UHhXt I was somewhat unsurprised to learn that 41% of my 30K shots were through the DA* 50-135/2.8. The next 40% were split between my DA* 16-50/2.8 and DA* 55/1.4. These numbers would likely be more meaningful if somehow normalized for length of ownership of each. The 55 gets the most use lately and I've had it the shortest time. My DA 35/2.8 is kind of specialized and only gets 9% of my time. I've always considered it as also a good street shooter, but I rarely do street shooting so it's just used for macro work really. -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
