Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.
It is, unfortunately, a little late to suggest asbstinence from
Pentaxforums; I am already a long time member ;)

Seriously though, thank you all (especially John) for insisting on the
fact even poor triggers should work; as this is no P-TTL or anything
complicated.
I have tried my K20D at "trailing curtain synch" setting now and, all
of a sudden, everything seems to work!
At this setting I am able to use the trigger at 1/180th sec!
Simple as that!

No need to ask my question 'elsewhere'   :)
