They do talk gear a lot. But I wonder how much of that obscure technical
information is correct and how much is simply made up. Sometimes it's
hard to tell the difference.
In this situation, they would be a good source, since what the OP is
asking for is what will work with his camera. This is where a broad user
base that has bought and tried a wide variety of products comes in handy.
Also, it's pretty easy to weed out the posters who are spouting out
their arses vs. the ones who now of what they speak, though it might
take a bit of reading to get a history.
The ones I am always suspicious of are the ones who "test" their
equipment, since most people don't know the first thing about setting up
a test in such a way that only once metric is being tested at a time.
