I admit I have probably failed at my attempts to compare these two lenses properly: SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 and FA 50mm f/1.4.
The only thing I can see repeatably (!) is the difference in rendering of colors; my radioactive Takumar shows everything a bit yellowish. Other than this, their contrast and resolution seems just the same. I also fail to observe a difference in their rendering of out of focus highlights. The FA allows autofocus and that may be an advantage under certain "time critical" conditions, perhaps. The Takumar "feels" great but don't ask me how I judged it! Anyhow, I am not thinking of parting with any of them. My curiosity is only for the sake of curiosity: Do you "see" a noticeable difference in images shot with either of these, if you look carefully?
