I like it as is, but wonder whether there are in fact two different images contained in it. One involves cropping the heavy ceiling area out, up to the last millimetre or so, leaving just a touch as a frame. Two is much more dramatic, cropping to a long vertical format just to the left of the edge of the drain-pipe and also cutting out most of the ceiling, as in the first suggestion. This crop leaves the man walking into the frame, which is generally considered more dynamic, I think.
