Thanks Cotty, Phillip, and the several others who commented.
Larry made a comment about how it almost looked like selective desaturation had 
been applied. I should be such a good technician! For the record, this has had 
about as little manipulation as you can get. RAW image into Lightroom, 2/3 
stops exposure added. That is it. No fiddling with color balance, contrast, 
clarity/vibrance/saturation, sharpening, etc. etc. To my eye it is a good 
capture of the almost eerie tonality of the original scene.
