Airplane mode certainly wouldn't work for me. The only reason I have a smart phone is so that I can maintain 9 to 5 office hours without sitting in front of the computer all day. But I'm not particularly interested in turning off the GPS either. I just mentioned that I see no way of doing it. However, there's much about my phone (a motorola droid 2) that I don't know.
