I agree completely with Tom.  The lower contrast makes it a much more 
interesting image.

Based on those I definitely like your new version 3 better. I like the
additional detail in the clouds and in the foreground rock. It has a
pleasant balanced feel to it while still retaining moodiness. Well
done, wish it were mine.
