I agree with Paul, but I _also_ agree with Tom. I want both drama
*and* detail in the highlights. :-)

Have you tried some selective curves work? Create a lower-contrast
layer with a mask then brush over the blown-out rock faces to bring
that into the high-contrast image. A hybrid of #2 and #3.

It's a very cool shot. I sure like it.
