Sounds slow. I did it like that for years. Now I have learned to push the end of the film in the fingers, crank it until the top sprocket catchs a couple of holes, insert the cassette in the chamber, close the back, and wind on to zero. Takes five seconds flat. And since I started doing it that way I have not had a failure to feed.
