It's curious that two women on the list got that impression, but so

Its called vanity :-)
In reviewing the shot I think I see what you mean. But the kind of
perspective distortion you're suggesting happens with wide-angle
lenses used close up. This shot was taken with an 85mm equiv (the DA*
55/1.4) and from about 5 feet away. I'd have been shooting downward at
no more than 7 degrees or so.
Yup I thought you were using a 50 equivalent and were too close.
So my guess is physiognomy: a relatively round face where the high-key
lighting has exaggerated the width. I was going to do a little burning
of her facial features to compensate, but my normally reserved
leave-well-enough-alone voice gained enough courage to speak up this
time.
The other thing that might cause this is she's young and reasonably
slim and she's wearing a black top which also tends to have a slimming
effect. These are all factors to consider when planning another shot
like this: be careful of odd and funky contrasts.
Thank you very much for your appraisal and comments, Ann.
sure - I repeat, the garbo shot is super

Well I like all the other three better than the one you first showed -
in the first one (now the last) I thought the angle of the camera made her
torso look to small in relation to her head.
The "Garbo" one is terrific - and she looks relaxed and charming in "fresh"

From left to right:
- "Once upon a time in the west"
- "Madame X"
- "Fresh"
- "Mischief"
The first three are lit solely by a bare, battery-powered 160-LED
"video light" on a light stand. $79 at Amazon. Great lighting tool.
"Mischief" is a rework of the one I showed before with pretty subtle
changes suggested by a couple of people.
Enjoy, and comments welcome.
