Rumor is interesting but looking through the comments reminds me why I don't visit sites like that: All kinds of euphoria/complaints/arguments based on a rumor. I'm pretty sure there will be a Pentax mirrorless camera; in fact, I can't imagine there *won't* be. If they really do stick to the K mount (probably a good idea) it would be interesting to see how they handle it. Keeping the same register distance would be simple but make for a bulky camera. One approach would be to keep the physical mount but a shorter register distance, using special "mirrorless-compatible" lenses or an automatic extension tube for standard K-mount glass. Or perhaps keep the register distance as is and design special pancake lenses with optical elements extending backward into the camera body where the mirror would be on an SLR? (That would rule out the possibility of really fast glass but, sadly, the marketplace outside a few of us old fogies on the PDML doesn't seem to care about that.) -- Mark Roberts - Photography & Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
