Supposedly K mount and a K-5 quality sensor:

This basically is a cost savings step. The OVF is a complicated
device. Most of the electronics for a EVF already exist in basic K-5
and K-r cameras. The necessity for costly hand assembly to insure
proper registration of the viewing screen and capture plane is done away
with. Allowing Ricoh to reap a higher profit per unit, or sell the
cameras at a lower price to compete better.
It won't however make them better imaging devices, nor will it allow
them to be all that much smaller, especially if the K mount registration
distance is maintained and an eye level viewfinder is built in.
All this means to me is that the K-5 will probably be the last DSLR that
I buy. I need a few wide lenses to fill out my stable but most of my
medium and long glass will be good for the rest of my life. I won't
even have to be in much of a hurry to buy them since they should work
fine on K mount DSLRs. Even with only the K20D I can make 13"x19"
prints that are better quality than the 8"x10" prints I made with 35mm
film, (The future came a lot faster than I thought it would).
Now before anyone, and you know who you are, starts extolling the
virtues of electronic viewfinders, and that I should really try one, I
have. The local-ish camera emporium carries pretty much the full
Olympus Pen line. Yes the little EVIL camera is nice and the accessory
viewfinder is clear enough but I just don't like them, the viewfinder
that is. I don't know why, they just set my teeth on edge.
If Ricoh stops making cameras that I want to use I simply don't have to
buy them. In most cases I was quite happy and still am, to shoot with
the D and Ds.

Don't lose heart! They might want to cut it out, and they'll want to avoid a
lengthily search.
