I have to agree with Mark on this. I have two 540s, and tehy work very well. I 
did break the hotshoe clamp on one of them, mainly as a result of being sloppy 
with it. If the shoe is fully engaged and the clamp applied without excessive 
force, it will last indefinitely. I was able to order parts from Pentax and fix 
it myself. I get good results in PTTL mode. I like the flash exposure comp 
system and regularly shoot with it at close to ambient exposure and with a half 
stop or full stop of minus compensation. I've never used the Metz.
